Are E-Cigarettes Safe?

How safe are e-cigarettes compared to regular cigarettes?

Regular cigarettes contain plant matter, which when burned, produces cancer-causing compounds and countless other poisonous chemicals. E-cigarettes are much safer in that they only contain the base ingredients necessary to mimic that of a real cigarette.

E-cigarettes just contain a few ingredients:
Something in which to dissolve the nicotine: usually a form of absorbent gel or propylene glycol, or some other ingredient that has been used as a medical propellant in inhalers or solvent in nebulizers and been approved by the FDA.

Flavoring: this should be self-explanatory, but there is by far a wider variety of flavors available in Electronic Cigarettes right now than there is with regular ones due to the recent federal ban on flavored tobacco in cigarettes. In Electronic Cigarettes that are refillable, such as the 510 model offered by www.esmokeronline.com, you can even order a number of different flavors and combine them to make a sort of flavored smoke cocktail if you like. It’s all up to you!

Nicotine: This is the alkaloid, or organic chemical, present in tobacco that smokers seek. It is the active chemical in all forms Joyetech eVic W VW Starter kit Excluding 18650 li-ion batteryof tobacco use that smokers enjoy. Pure, lab-grade, nicotine has not been shown to cause lung cancer. The International Agency for Research on Cancer, which is an international intergovernmental agency which forms part of the World Health Organisation of the United Nations, has stated that nicotine is not a carcinogen, or cancer-causing chemical.

Water: provides the bulk of the vapor that simulates the smoking experience. This is why there’s no secondhand smoke. There simply isn’t any smoke to besecondhand, or thirdhand!

Fire: There isn’t any! If you fall asleep with an electronic cigarette in your hand on your comfortable couch in front of your nice flat-screen television, or in an airport terminal waiting for your flight, you will not end up lighting the place on fire and owing a lot more money than you already are spending on cigarettes, cigars, shisha, or other tobacco products. This depends on the airport, of course. Keep in mind some have banned the use of Electronic Cigarettes inside the terminal, and some have not.

Smoke: There isn’t any. No, Really! That stuff you’re breathing in is almost entirely water vapor, and the nicotine it contains is absorbed readily through the mucosal lining in the mouth, throat, and in the lungs. By the time you breathe it out the trace amounts left are negligible. That means it’s safe to use indoors.

Third-hand Smoke: There isn’t any of this, either. If you’re unfamiliar with this one, it refers to the tobacco particles that settle on clothes and in hair and skin when one has been out at a place around smokers. The smoke particles can come home and trigger an allergic reaction to smoke in someone who is allergic to it, and generally stink up the house. All forms of smoked tobacco products leave these trace elements attached to wherever they can stick. Electronic cigarettes simply do not. This makes them safe for spouses who may otherwise be allergic to smoking.
